“Painting is both a passion and an outlet!”

I have been asked lately to define my work. Why do I paint what I paint. What inspires me. Moves me. My work is about light and dark, experimentation and pushing boundaries in search of light, or the absence of it. I work with many different subject matters, mediums and materials. It wasn’t until recently, in a quiet moment, that I realized my work has always been about finding light or dealing with the darkness.

Recently, I have gone back to my roots, to the beginning of my creative journey. After visiting a local crystal shop, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of coming home, a feeling of connection to the metaphysical energy of the stones around me. I am harnessing that feeling into new jewelry designs.

I was born in Chicago and grew up with artistic and musical influences within my family. From an early age, I showed a talent for drawing. For many years, I was a self taught artist. It wasn’t until my sons were in college that I myself went back and got my BFA. I am a classically trained metalsmith, artist and art historian. I am skilled in mixed media of all types, graphic art and web design. I enjoy the creative process and the challenges of learning new skills. It keeps me young and motivated. I am a mother, a woman living with PTSD and anxiety, a cancer survivor, an educator, a synesthete and a Pantheist, all of which influence my work.
